Lex Astrum, or the "Law of the Stars," is an emerging concept that seeks to define the legal principles governing human activities in outer space. Drawing inspiration from Lex Maritima, the centuries-old "Law of the Sea" that facilitated the regulation of maritime commerce and conduct on international waters, Lex Astrum aspires to provide a similar framework for the celestial frontier. Just as Lex Maritima harmonized diverse maritime practices into a cohesive body of law respected across nations, Lex Astrum envisions a universal legal regime that addresses issues such as space exploration, resource extraction, satellite operations, and interstellar disputes. This new legal domain reflects humanity’s need to navigate the vast complexities of space with order, fairness, and cooperation.
